Philippines, my Philippines, what went wrong?

I am a Filipina, in my heart and in my mind. I cherish my heritage, my culture, but not my government. Yes, I am greatly disappointed on how our officials run our country. Before, I dreamt of joining the government workforce. It is said to be challenging, stable, and high-paying. But working with a private company for years, I laugh at that thought. There is a difference, a huge difference. For one, government workers have no choice, but to follow what is mandated by the higher officials. Moreso, most of them become demoralized and lazy. Blame it NOT on them. It is the crooked system that they are living in. Politicians riding each others’ coattails is not inspirational at all.

As the old saying goes, there is always hope. I am STILL optimistic that we can somewhat progresss, and lift our country’s pride. Perhaps, in hundred of years to come.
