Just Trying My Luck

Early this evening, I finished a group job interview for a university in Daytona Beach as an Admissions Counselor. It’s the very first time that I applied for something different from what I was used to, in particular, being a university staff. …and oh my gosh, I never felt so inferior in my life than this one. I arrived there 30 minutes earlier, very confident of myself. Actually, I was the early bird. When some co-applicants started to arrive, I knew that I was in for some awkward and unsettling period. I was the youngest and one of the least experienced in the group. All of us have bachelor’s degree (a requirement) , and most have Master’s. One older lady has five different degrees. Wow! How good is that?! We were given the chance to talk in front of the group. You know, the typical tell-us-about-yourself thing. After my turn, I was trembling in my chair. I am never good in public speaking especially when I am not ready. Nevertheless, I am honored to be a part of the group. The very handsome (as in) Admissions Director said that he received around 250 applications in his email in 3 days, and had to cut the list to 10-15. I was one of them. It felt good, but I knew for sure, I will NOT get the job.

Just another tiring day for me…

  1. Please let me know if you’re looking for a article author for your blog. You have some really good posts and I think I would be a good asset. If you ever want to take some of the load off, I’d really like to write some material for your blog in exchange for a link back to mine. Please send me an email if interested. Regards!
